Why is the Internet of Things Called One of the Most Important Technologies in the Future

What is the Internet of Things?

The Internet of Things is the latest technology that creates a global network of machines and equipment that can communicate with each other and exchange data via the Internet. There is a difference between the Internet of Things and the Internet. The Internet of Things can create information about connected objects, analyze them, and make decisions; in other words, the Internet of Things can be said to be smarter than the Internet. Security cameras, sensors, vehicles, buildings, and software are all examples of data that can be exchanged with each other.

Internet of Things

IoT Challenge

As the number of real-time applications (devices) that need to be intelligently connected increases, so will the challenges of the Internet of Things. These challenges are as follows.

(1) Smart connection

Sensors and devices connected and communicating through IoT infrastructure may need to update their trends or functions to adapt to changes in the surrounding environment. The Internet of Things is an intelligent infrastructure that can process the collected data and make necessary decisions to improve itself and change the trends or characteristics of connected devices to adapt to changes in the surrounding environment. The Internet of Things is an intelligent technology that can help all connected devices update themselves according to changes in the surrounding environment and can adapt and work with high precision in any other unfamiliar environment. Therefore, if the smart infrastructure is well-designed and can correctly process the data collected from the device, a smart connection system can be produced.

(2) Maintain a high degree of privacy and security of all connected devices.

The main idea of using the Internet of Things is to have an intelligent system and connect billions of devices around the world. It is estimated that by 2020, the number of devices connected through IoT devices is expected to reach 50 billion. The figure below shows that until 2020.

The growth of the world's population and connected devices in 2015. Connecting such many devices requires a high level of security to prevent fraud and allow a high level of data protection. Therefore, it is a huge challenge to gain the trust that industries and individuals need to share their data using the Internet of Things and achieve a high level of security.

(3) Processing big data

The most important challenge in using the Internet of Things is the huge growth of data transferred between connected devices. The three basic sources of data are:

① The database used in the business process
② Daily human activities, such as email, Facebook and blog
③ The connection of physical devices such as cameras and microphones

It's worth mentioning that 90% of the world's data are in the past 2
Produced in the middle of the year. This makes it more challenging for IoT infrastructure designers to deal with this growth in generated data.

(4) Reduce the overall data delay of machine-to-machine interaction

As many devices are connected through the Internet of Things infrastructure, the data shared between them will also increase significantly. This will cause some delay or delay in data transmission between connected devices. This opens new challenges to be solved by the Internet of Things to reduce such delays to ensure access to a strong Internet of Things infrastructure.

(5) Reduce bandwidth and power consumption

The bandwidth and power consumption of many devices that are connected, communicate, and share data through the Internet of Things have greatly increased. Therefore, bandwidth and power consumption challenges should be considered at the same time when designing IoT infrastructure. The main trend now is to reduce the size of connected devices, so power consumption will be reduced. Due to the large amount of data shared between devices, the transmission data rate is still a problem to be solved.

(6) Complexity

Sharing data and connecting devices through the Internet of Things can be achieved through multiple levels and levels of software/hardware and some standard protocols. With the massive increase in shared data and connected devices, the software/hardware and standard protocols used will become more complex. Therefore, as the number of connected devices increases, reducing the complexity of IoT technology becomes a challenge.

Internet of Things Application

The Internet of Things is one of the most important fields of future technology and has been widely recognized in a wide range of applications and fields related to smart cities, military, education, hospitals, homeland security systems, transportation, and automated networked vehicles, agriculture, smart shopping Systems, and other modern technologies. The smart home is one of the main applications that use IoT infrastructure to connect multiple sensors. Sensors can sense and collect surrounding information for complete control of different home systems, such as lighting and security systems. And smart home projects, to help achieve networking, usually use the LoRa module, Cat-1 module, and other communication modules.
